Crookabeck B&B in Patterdale, England

Crookabeck B&B is a renovated 18th-century cart shed on a working sheep farm in Patterdale. The 3 guest suites each have a private bathroom and a sitting room with a log-burning stove. Guests can book the Arnison suite, which has its own lounge and dining area with direct access to a private outdoor terrace.

Breakfast includes a Full English or Irish option, homemade granola, and fresh banana bread. For dinner, guests can pre-order a charcuterie and cheese grazing board with local meats, cheeses, hummus, and warm bread. Crookabeck also provides packed lunches for hikers, and there is a guest lounge with complimentary tea and lemon drizzle cake.

The B&B is located on Adam's family farm, where guests can meet rare-breed Herdwick sheep and Bavarian Red Fox sheep. There is an on-site wool shop selling locally crafted products made from Herdwick fleece, including clothes and souvenirs. The farm also offers guided walks to search for deer during rutting season and Nordic walking lessons.

Crookabeck sits steps from the Coast-to-Coast path and within walking distance of Ullswater Lake and Glenridding's pubs. The hosts provide personalised recommendations for local hikes, including routes to Helvellyn and St. Sunday Crag. Guests can also take the Ullswater steamer from Glenridding to Howtown for a circular walk back along the lake shore.

The hosts offer laundry service for £10 per load, and will dry hikers' boots and clothes overnight. Free private parking and free WiFi are available on the property.
