4-star apartment at a working watermill in Wells
Amenities
Mill Lodge is a split-level apartment located within the grounds of Burcott Mill, a working watermill that produces its own flour. Guests receive a welcome pack that includes a loaf of bread made with flour ground on the premises. The property offers a garden, free parking, and accessible parking options.
Accommodation
The apartment contains one bedroom, a living room, and a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave, oven, and toaster. The bathroom includes a walk-in shower and a freestanding bath, with a separate dining area and seating space. The bed is described as huge and comfortable by guests, and USB plugs are provided by the bed.
Location
Mill Lodge is 3.8 km from Wells Cathedral and 3 km from Wookey Hole Caves, with Bristol Airport 26 km away. The Burcott Inn pub is located directly across the road, and two other village pubs are within a five-minute walk. Walkers can reach the centre of Wells via a safe footpath in about 30 minutes.
Dining
The Burcott Mill on site bakes bread daily using its own flour, which guests can also purchase. The Burcott Inn across the road serves home-cooked food and local Cheddar Ales. A welcome basket includes freshly baked bread, butter, milk, and juices.
Guest Experience
The working watermill tour is offered by the hosts and reveals the granary and milling process. Guests can relax in the garden where guinea pigs are kept. The property is adult-only (over 16), and the hosts provide a sheet option during hot weather along with a couple of fans.
