Stow Lodge Hotel in Stow-on-the-Wold, England

Stow Lodge Hotel sits directly on Stow-on-the-Wold's historic market square, a two-minute walk from the Cotswolds countryside. The hotel is housed in a former rectory adjacent to St Edward's Church, offering rooms with views of the church's famous north door. Guests can reach Blenheim Palace (33 km), Warwick Castle, and Stratford-upon-Avon without a car, using the bus stop at the square's gate.

Rooms are divided between the main hotel and the Coach House annex, with options like the Superior Double Room (Garden Chalet) featuring a separate dressing area and walk-in shower. The Standard Double with Church View overlooks the churchyard, while ground-floor units in the Coach House offer accessible parking nearby. All rooms include private bathrooms, carpeted floors, and wardrobes, with some garden chalet rooms offering reclining chairs and a coffee table.

The on-site restaurant serves traditional British cuisine with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options marked on the menu. Breakfast is offered as a full English or à la carte, with freshly cooked items brought to the table rather than a buffet. Evening meals include dishes such as sirloin steak and duck with orange and cranberry, with portions noted as generous by guests.

The hotel's extensive gardens feature outdoor furniture for seating, with shaded and sunny spots for afternoon drinks. The lawns are well maintained and provide a quiet area separate from the market square crowds. Guests frequently use the garden for snacks and drinks during warmer months, as noted in recent reviews.

Free on-site private parking is available, a significant advantage in a town where street parking is limited. The hotel offers daily housekeeping, 24-hour security, and a residents' lounge with a log fire and board games. Families are welcome, and the laundry service can handle urgent requests within the same day.
